We first visited Clogheen in 2003 and were enchanted by the beautiful views over Baylough and fantastic hill walking. The owners of the former convent building, then called 'As Solas' Healing Centre, had invited us out for a cup of tea. The convent gardens were magical in the afternoon light as we pulled up the drive. The cup of tea was served in front of the cozy Aga cooker and the chance afternoon turned into a friendship now spanning over 15 years.
In October of 2005 we purchased 'As Solas' with a vision to create a space where guests could relax and rejuvenate, while enjoying great food and the beautiful Tipperary countryside.
'The Old Convent' Country House Hideaway was born in July of 2006. The daily changing tasting menu was key to fulfilling our goal of using the freshest Irish artisan ingredients, served in the beautiful Chapel Dining Room.
